Tobin G. Barrozo Throughout his professional life, Tobin G. Barrozo chose to work in higher education institutions known for their exemplary service to working adults. Dr. Barrozo's academic appointments include President, Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs and University Dean. On the state level, he was Chief Academic Officer for the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education. His professional experience includes academic appointments in California, New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Minnesota and Illinois. Dr. Barrozo was President at Metropolitan State University in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul; Metropolitan State University is known for its innovative programming for adult students. He was Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at a similar university in Illinois. Dr. Barrozo was among the founding faculty of a college of the City University of New York (C.U.N.Y.) and a tenured Professor. He taught philosophy at San Francisco State University, Stanford University, City University of New York, the University of San Diego and San Diego State University. Dr. Barrozo served on the governing boards of numerous national, higher education associations, including the American Association for Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), Commission on Women of the American Council of Education (ACE) and the National Council on Adult Learning (NCAL). He served also on a broad variety of civic, not-for-profit boards including the United Way, St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, Citizens League of Minnesota, St. Paul Foundation, National Council for Christians and Jews, Denver Sister Cities and Voyageur Outward Bound. Frequently invited as a speaker and panelist, Dr. Barrozo delivered a Commencement Address at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul Minnesota and was an invited speaker at Carlton College. He was an invited panelist at national meetings of the Education Commission of the States (ECS), American Council of Education (ACE), American Association for Higher Education (AAHE) and the Association of State Colleges and Universities (ASCU). Dr. Barrozo has published in scholarly journals, including The Journal of Higher Education. Volunteering with organizations that have a social role and purpose is a high priority for Dr. Barrozo. He served on multiple review panels for the San Diego Arts and Culture Commission, completed training at the San Diego Natural History Museum to lead nature walks through the canyons and parks of San Diego county, is a Docent at the Tijuana Estuary and completed hospice volunteer training at Sharp HospiceCare San Diego. Dr. Barrozo is a philosopher having earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Stanford University. Beyond earning the doctorate degree at Stanford, he attended the Institute for Educational Management (IEM) and Seminar for Presidents at Harvard University. Digital photography recently complemented a life long love for fly fishing in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. Recently, he hand built a bamboo fly rod.
